Summary: Ilobolo is a cultural estimation guide only. It does not provide legal, financial, or professional advice. All results are approximate starting points for family discussion. 1. Nature of the service
Ilobolo is an online cultural guidance and estimation tool designed to assist South African families in preparing for lobola negotiations. All outputs are approximate estimates based on general cultural practice and publicly available information.
2. No professional advice
Nothing on Ilobolo constitutes legal advice, financial or investment advice, matrimonial or family law advice, cultural or traditional authority, or professional consulting of any nature. Always consult qualified professionals before making significant decisions.
3. Estimations are approximate
All figures may not reflect current market prices, do not represent the expectations of any specific family, cannot account for all cultural variables, and are not binding on any party. Cattle prices in particular move continuously with the livestock market. Treat every figure as a starting point for conversation only.
4. Letter templates
Lobola letter templates are cultural communication guides only. They carry no legal weight. Templates in African languages should be reviewed by a native speaker or trusted elder before use. For legally binding agreements, consult a qualified attorney.
5. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, Ilobolo and its developers accept no liability for the outcomes of lobola negotiations, financial loss, family disputes, inaccuracy of prices, or disputes between families arising from use of this tool.
6. Privacy and data
Ilobolo has no database and stores none of the details you enter. Payments go directly to Paystack. Our Privacy Policy explains exactly what is handled, by whom, and your rights under POPIA.
7. Payment and refunds
The full report costs R49 once off. There is no subscription and no recurring charge. Because the report is generated and delivered digitally the moment payment succeeds, we are unable to offer refunds once it has been unlocked. Please review your details carefully before paying.
8. Cultural sensitivity
Lobola is a sacred cultural practice. Ilobolo is built with deep respect for that tradition, and it is not an authority on it. Always involve community elders, cultural leaders, and trusted family advisors throughout the process.
9. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of South Africa.
